“Coulda let the dream killers kill my self-esteem
Or use the arrogance as a steam that power my dreams.”

-Kanye West ("Ego," Beyonce)

I feel like the old Bad Boy Artist Black Rob's song, “Like Whoa!”. Are we really in 2017?

Some of us had good, bad, and ugly 2016's. I remember growing up, going to church and there being some theme for each year. For example, Name It and Claim It 2010, or Get Your Money 2014. As inspirational as those affirmations were, resolutions can be overwhelming.

This year, I have decided to keep it simple and be the best version of myself that I can (knowing that alone takes work). Oftentimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to make more money, to find that significant other we’ve dreamed of, or to actually put money in our savings accounts. Last year’s circumstances may not have turned out as planned, but don’t let the past kill this year’s dreams/goals!

Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do or what you won’t do this year. If you are going to make a “resolution,” I hope it’s this one: I hope you consider getting rid of those people who kill your dreams. Your dreams are for you, and your dreams can come true if YOU want them too!

How often do you take time and reflect on the awesome things you have accomplished in your years on this earth? Clearly there are things on our bucket lists that we still want to check off, but when was the last time you celebrated all the awesome things you have done up to now? We have all year to focus on our goals. Today, do yourself a favor: make a toast to YOU, and to all the great things that await you in 2017. You worked hard last year and those seeds that you planted will grow and prosper.

We put together a playlist to help you usher in the best version of yourself. Ladies, without further ado, let’s celebrate how awesome and glass ceiling crushing you are. I can’t wait for the rest of the year to see what you bring to the table. Go forth and slay!
