When I was in school, getting me to actually finish the assigned reading for most classes was nearly impossible. In high school, I was the queen of CliffsNotes. I thought I had more important things to do than bother with finishing a book or another reading assignment.
It wasn't until I left school that I began to appreciate the joys of reading. I realized that I loved learning new things, and enjoyed reading about other people's lives and perspectives. At the top of this year, a la Mark Zuckerberg, I made a goal for myself to read more this year. So far, I've read 30 of the 40 books I wanted to read this year. (Yes, I know the pace I *should* have been on. And I know how many days are left in the year. Basically, procrastination is in my DNA.)
With one year ending, and another beginning soon, there's been a lot of talk in my social circle lately about wanting to read even more.
