As we consider our goals, both long and short term, it can be easy to get discouraged. We can all use a little encouragement and some words of wisdom time and again.
Here are five quotes about perseverance and success from women of color who inspire us:
"Don't wait around for other people to be happy for you. Any happiness you get you've got to make yourself." -- Alice Walker
"You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." -- Maya Angelou
"I can't' are two words that have never been in my vocabulary. I believe in me more than anything in this world." -- Wilma Rudolph
"No person has the right to rain on your dreams." -- Marian Wright Edelman
"You have to practice success. Success doesn't just show up. If you aren't practicing success today, you won't wake up in 20 years and be successful, because you won't have developed the habits of success, which are small things like finishing what you start, putting a lot of effort into everything you do, being on time, treating people well." -- Michelle Obama
Here's to another great week, ladies!
